Two men have been charged following a luggage theft where a believed to be irritant spray resulted in harm at the major London air hub.

Tyrone Richards, 31, and Anton Clarke-Butcher, 24, have both been charged with two counts of robbery and charges for using a harmful chemical, according to official statements.

The charges follow an investigation into an attack at the parking structure at Terminal 3 on the weekend. Before the assault occurred, two women were robbed of their suitcases taken after getting out of a parking garage elevator, according to law enforcement.

A young child was one of the people hurt in the event. A total of five individuals required hospital care and were eventually allowed to go home.

The incident – described by police as was not part of a series and deemed non-terroristic – led to disruptions to rail services and the partial closure of the main airport road tunnel and the T3 parking area for a brief period.
